Advancing Specialty Pharmacy Practice with 6 Continuing Education Sessions

During the conference, CPS will take the stage six times for educational presentations, most of which qualify for continuing education (CE) credits.

 

Sessions on Sunday, Oct. 6

 

Careers in Specialty Pharmacy | 10:15 a.m. - Noon CT | Location: Hermitage D

SPCB board chairman and HSSP expert Brandon Hardin, PharmD, MBA, CSP, kicks things off on Sunday with this multi-disciplinary panel exploring the specialty pharmacy career journey and where to find opportunities (like at CPS).

Patient Voices for Clinical Choices: PROs to Drive Clinical Excellence in HSSP Practice | 1 - 1:50 p.m. CT | Location: Magnolia Ballroom

On Sunday, research pharmacist Carly Giavatto, PharmD, and director of clinical and central operations Lauren Bryant, PharmD, CDCES, will present a session about the power of patient-reported outcomes measures (PROs).

 

Drs. Giavatto and Bryant will explain how HSSPs are uniquely positioned to select, collect, and incorporate PROs into clinical protocols and will show attendees how to use them in practice.

CSP Exam Prep Workshop: Operations | 2:30 - 3:45 p.m. CT | Location: Hermitage C

Get ready for your CSP exam alongside Jayna Patel, PharmD, CSP, AAHVIP. She’s hosting a workshop on Sunday to show attendees how to collect and interpret clinical and patient-reported data.

Sessions on Tuesday, Oct. 8

 

Optimizing Patient Outcomes: A Specialty Pharmacy Framework for Interventions | 11:20 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. CT | Location: Tennessee Ballroom D

On Tuesday, Ana I. Lopez-Medina will participate in a panel about how specialty pharmacies optimize patient outcomes. Dr. Lopez-Medina serves on NASP’s Clinical Outcomes Committee, which develops and recommends metrics for measuring HSSP value.

During the session, Dr. Lopez-Medina and her fellow panelists will review the current state of specialty pharmacy interventions, discussing how attendees can use the committee’s framework to implement specialty pharmacy intervention documentation and reporting.

Sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 9

 

We’ve Got Nerve Too: Creating Impactful Sustainable Neurology Specialty Pharmacy Services | 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. CT | Location: Tennessee Ballroom D

Join our neurology-focused specialty pharmacists Amanda Hickman, PharmD, MPH, MSCS, Meagan Schreiber, PharmD, CSP, and Jocelyn Furer, PharmD, as they discuss how HSSPs are having an impact on patients living with chronic neurological conditions.

 

During the session, they will describe the “world of opportunity” that specialty pharmacists have to benefit patient care in neurology. They’ll also explore the considerations specialty pharmacists should make as they plan de novo programs.

Enhancing Clinical Operations with Technology Solutions and Data Science | 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. CT | Location: Hermitage A

On Wednesday, our chief clinical officer, Lily P. Duong, PharmD, and her colleague, Joshua Bastian, will host a session about technology-enabled specialty pharmacy management.

 

During the session, they will use real-world case studies to describe how risk stratification is helping specialty pharmacists identify patients at risk for non-adherence.
