Background
-
Health literacy is the ability of patients to find, understand, and use health-related information to make informed decisions. In specialty pharmacy, patient comprehension is critical due to:
- High-risk, high-cost medications
- Complex disease states and treatment regiments
-
Despite its importance, limited evidence exists on effective strategies to promote health literacy in the specialty pharmacy setting.
Objectives
The purpose of this study is to assess and analyze current practices surrounding health literacy in the specialty pharmacy setting.
