Background

  • Nearly three-quarters of U.S. adults are overweight or obese, creating a critical need for effective weight management strategies.1

  • Pharmacologic therapies, including GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonists, are valuable tools, though access challenges such as medication shortages, limited insurance coverage, and high out-of-pocket costs persist.2,3

  • Health-system specialty pharmacy (HSSP) teams are well positioned to support patients through medication management and clinical monitoring.

Objectives

To evaluate medication access and clinical outcomes among patients enrolled in an HSSP-led chronic disease management (CDM) program for weight loss.
