Background:
- Cost avoidance has been observed when pharmacists in health-system specialty pharmacies (HSSPs) collaborate in a multidisciplinary approach with dermatologists in outpatient clinics.
- Pharmacist-led interventions in dermatology clinics are critical for preventing and addressing adverse drug events (ADEs), thereby leading to optimized clinical outcomes for patients utilizing specialty medications.
- HSSP pharmacists are positioned to make meaningful interventions when they arise, whether from automated triggers based on patient-reported outcomes or as needed based on patient-specific clinical scenarios.
Objectives:
- To evaluate potential costs avoided due to specialty pharmacist interventions performed for patients in multiple dermatology clinics.
