CPS Solutions, LLC (CPS) partners with hospitals and health systems nationwide to drive clinical and operational improvement through their pharmacies. Our clinical training teams maintain visibility to the latest in COVID-19 best practices. We provide value at our managed pharmacy sites to support leaders in creating the best possible situation for patients, caregivers, and staff.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone ages five and older should get vaccinated against COVID-19 to help protect against severe disease and death from the virus that causes COVID-19, including variants currently in circulation (e.g., Omicron). The benefits far outweigh the known and potential risks, which are rare. While side effects may occur after vaccination, these are normal and should go away within a few days.

Those 12 years of age and older who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or 18 years of age and older who received a Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccine primary series and have a moderately or severely compromised immune system should receive an additional primary dose of the same mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after the second dose. Everyone ages 12 and older can get a booster shot.

With these revised recommendations come additional questions. Can individuals “mix and match” vaccine boosters? What is the guidance regarding a third vaccine shot for immunocompromised individuals?

In our new white paper – Guidance for Expanded Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters – we take a deep dive into current recommendations from the CDC and FDA regarding COVID-19 vaccine boosters and third shots. Download the white paper here:
